A crane accident near Kanatta roundabout in Borella killed one and injured seven after colliding with multiple vehicles at a traffic light. 

The driver, suspected to be under the influence of cannabis, was arrested. 

A 62-year-old man from Athurugiriya died upon hospital admission. 

Brake failure is believed to be a contributing factor.
