Following Akuregoda Shooting, The President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL), Rajeev Amarasuriya, announced that an emergency general meeting of all members will be convened tomorrow (15), marking the first such meeting in 14 years.
Speaking at a press conference today (14), convened to clarify the Association’s position on the fatal shooting in Akuregoda, the BASL President said the meeting is scheduled to commence at 3.00 p.m.
The BASL had earlier strongly condemned the shooting and assassination of an Attorney-at-Law and his wife, who were killed by unidentified assailants in Akuregoda yesterday (13).
The Association described the incident as a serious threat to the rule of law and called for a thorough investigation.
