The Department of Irrigation has assured that there is no flood threat despite elevated water levels in parts of the Mahaweli River basin.
Director of Irrigation (Hydrology & Disaster Management) L. S. Sooriyabandara said the Manampitiya River remains high but is not expected to reach flood levels.
He noted that sluice gates of several reservoirs, including the Thanthirimale Reservoir in Anuradhapura, have been opened as a precaution, but water releases are not at dangerous levels.
