A woman, aged seventy-seven, died following a fatal bus accident on the Galle–Colombo main road at the Rathgama junction.

The collision occurred when a bus travelling from Galle towards Hikkaduwa struck the woman, a resident of Boossa, who was walking along the roadside.

She sustained severe injuries and succumbed while being admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital.

The deceased's body has been placed in the hospital morgue. Police have arrested the bus driver, and Rathgama Police are conducting further investigations.
