April arrivals top 117,000, below last year’s pace

Sri Lanka recorded 117,893 tourist arrivals in April, according to data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), marking a slower performance compared to the same month last year.

India remained the largest source market, accounting for 35,862 arrivals, or 30%. The United Kingdom followed with 9,585 visitors, while Australia contributed 9,142, China 8,543, and Russia 6,172.

In April 2025, Sri Lanka received 174,608 tourists.

With the latest figures, total arrivals for 2026 have reached 858,527. India leads year-to-date arrivals with 183,135 visitors, followed by the United Kingdom with 88,005 and Russia with 72,090, SLTDA data shows.
