Minister of Health Nalinda Jayatissa stated that a special programme has been launched to improve facilities in base hospitals across Sri Lanka, with Rs. 3,100 billion allocated for the initiative.

The programme aims to identify and address infrastructure and service gaps in hospitals managed by both the central government and provincial councils.

During a visit to the Wellawaya Base Hospital, the Minister also noted that efforts are underway to strengthen non-communicable disease prevention and reduce surgical waiting lists.
