More than 96,000 people have been affected by prevailing dry weather conditions across six districts, according to the Disaster Management Centre (DMC).

The DMC stated that 96,584 people have been affected in Ampara, Badulla, Batticaloa, Monaragala, Polonnaruwa and Ratnapura districts.

A total of 94,356 people from 29,584 families across 28 Divisional Secretariat Divisions have been affected, with Monaragala recording the highest number of affected families at 11,751.

The distribution of drinking water is continuing across the 28 affected Divisional Secretariat Divisions.
