Human skeletal remains belonging to 501 individuals have been excavated from the mass grave near Siththupaththu Cemetery in Chemmani, Jaffna.

Former University of Jaffna Senior Professor of History Paramu Pushparatnam stated that this is the first time in Sri Lanka that remains of more than 500 individuals have been recovered from a single site.

The 46th day of Phase 6 of the excavation was conducted yesterday (07) under the supervision of Jaffna Magistrate S. Lenin Kumar.
