The Cabinet has approved a proposal to ratify the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Work in Fishing Convention (C188).

The convention aims to establish standards on working conditions, health facilities, medical access and safety protections for fishing workers.

The approval was granted following a joint proposal by the Fisheries, Aquatic and Marine Resources Minister and the Labour Minister to introduce related regulations in stages.
