The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has clarified that it is not associated with any calls informing those seeking employment in Israel to make additional payments.
The Additional General Manager of International Affairs of the SLBFE Gamini Senarath Yapa stated that job candidates who have already settled their payments do not need to proceed with any additional payments.
The SLBFE received multiple complaints on Monday (21) regarding a person making phone calls and claiming that those seeking employment in Israel must pay a sum of Rs. 14,700.
Yapa explained that all candidates preparing to work in Israel’s agricultural sector have already settled their payments with the SLBFE.
“Someone has fraudulently sent a message asking them to repay an amount of Rs. 14,700. He has introduced himself as an official of the SLBFE. The SLBFE has not released such information in any way. About 123 people are set to leave for these jobs. The other thing is that the person who gave this call mentioned depositing money into a bank account. It is hereby notified that the SLBFE will not engage in such activities,” said Yapa.
If anyone encounters such a situation, they are urged to contact the SLBFE on the hotline 1989.
