A fire broke out early this morning (29) on the fifth floor of a housing complex on Dabare Mawatha, Narahenpita, prompting a swift response from the Colombo Municipal Council Fire Brigade.

Five firefighting units were deployed to contain the blaze, and several residents were rescued and safely evacuated.

Police confirmed that six people were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and officials are assessing the extent of the damage.
