Department of Railways stated that several special train services will operate from 30 to 31 May for the Vesak Festival.

The trains will facilitate commuters travelling to Anuradhapura and devotees attending the State Vesak Festival at the ancient Middellawala Purana Raja Maha Viharaya in Matara.

Railways officials noted that the additional services were introduced to manage increased passenger demand during the Vesak holiday period.
