Sri Lanka has reaffirmed its commitment to the humanitarian objectives of the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM) and to eliminating the threat posed by cluster munitions worldwide.
Addressing the Third Review Conference of the CCM in Vientiane, Sri Lanka called on states to end the production and transfer of cluster munitions and work towards their total elimination.
Sri Lanka also called for continued progress in victim assistance, stockpile destruction, clearance of unexploded remnants and risk-reduction education.
The conference is being held in Laos from 14 to 18 September.
