The Department of Census and Statistics will conduct a new Economic Census in two phases to update data from 2013/14. 

Agricultural activities will be surveyed in 2025 and non-agricultural activities in 2026. 

The Cabinet has approved the proposal submitted by President Anura Kumara Dissanyake in his role as Minister of Finance.
