The Government has increased the levy on casinos from 10% to 18% with effect from 1 October, as per a gazette tabled in Parliament today (21) by Prime Minister 9pm Harini Amarasuriya.

Under the new regulations, the entrance fee for Sri Lankan citizens will also rise from $50 to $100, while fees for foreign nationals remain unchanged.

The move gives legal effect to a key proposal in the 2025 Budget aimed at raising state revenue from the casino industry.
