Elon Musk announced that Starlink, his satellite internet service, is now available in Sri Lanka. 

The service received regulatory approval in August 2024 after changes to telecom laws. A pilot project using 10 devices is already underway.

Starlink offers a residential package at Rs. 15,000 per month plus Rs. 118,000 for hardware. 

It provides high-speed internet via low Earth orbit satellites, ideal for rural and remote areas without fiber access. 

Starlink is active in nearly 100 countries worldwide.
