Secretary to the Finance Ministry, Dr Harshana Suriyapperuma, and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) Governor, Dr Nandalal Weerasinghe, have been instructed to appear before the Parliamentary Committee on Public Finance (CoPF) in relation to the matter of the payment of US$ 2.5 million made by the Treasury to a third party.

CoPF met on Monday (08) at the Parliament complex at around 3 p.m. under the Chairpersonship of Dr Harsha de Silva. During the session, members discussed reports submitted by the Secretary to the Treasury regarding a payment of $ 2.5 million made by the Treasury to a third party. The Committee had previously requested a report from the Treasury concerning the transfer of $ 2.5 million to a third party. Dr de Silva further noted that the report was submitted to Parliament last week and subsequently circulated among Committee members.
