The Police on Wednesday (7) arrested a 36-year-old man who had threatened an eight-year-old girl and her mother.

A statement issued by the Police explained that based on a complaint received by the Cinnamon Garden Police about a man who had forcibly entered a car and threatened an eight-year-old girl who was in the car with her mother, a Police investigation had been launched. The investigation has led to the arrest of the said suspect in the Kolonnawa area. According to the Police, although the suspect had initially fled the scene, extensive investigations into the taxi used by the suspect had led to the arrest.

The statement further read that on 2 May, when the girl’s mother went to the eight-year-old’s school to pick her up from school, the suspect had entered the vehicle and threatened the girl. This incident had prompted the mother to scream for help.
