Kuwait Airways has officially relaunched its direct services to Colombo, reinstating four weekly flights after a two-year break during which it operated codeshare flights with SriLankan Airlines.

The national carrier of Kuwait, which first began Sri Lanka operations in 1978, will now deploy its modern Airbus A320neo aircraft on the route, offering enhanced comfort and global connectivity to passengers.

The inaugural ceremony was held today (27) at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) with a water-cannon salute, cultural performances, and special Ceylon Tea gifts for arriving passengers.

Charge d’Affaires of the State of Kuwait, Abdullah Ahmad A.M.A. Almuhana, said the resumption signifies strengthened friendship and cooperation between the two nations, boosting trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.

Civil Aviation Authority Chairman Sunil Jayaratna also welcomed the move, calling it a reaffirmation of long-standing ties.
