Minister of Justice Harshana Nanayakkara says the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) will be repealed and replaced with a new people-centric law aimed solely at combating terrorism.
Speaking in Kilinochchi, the minister said the draft legislation is expected to be presented within the next two months, stressing it will not be used to suppress individuals or groups.
He also reaffirmed the government's commitment to advancing investigations into missing persons, releasing land in the North and promoting reconciliation by ensuring equal rights and trust among all communities.
