The Cabinet of Ministers has approved special arrangements to facilitate the voluntary return of Sri Lankans who fled the country during the war and were registered as refugees in India.

Those whose Sri Lankan identity is verified and who receive State Intelligence Service clearance will be issued temporary passports and allowed to enter through authorised ports.

Individuals linked to serious offences, including murder or treason, will be handed over to relevant authorities for legal action.
