The Sri Lankan rupee had depreciated by 5.6 % against the US dollar in 2025, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has confirmed.

According to the CBSL, the buying rate of the US dollar was Rs. 306.29 while the selling rate stood at Rs. 313.83 at the end of trading yesterday.

On 31 December 2024, the buying rate of the US dollar was Rs. 288.32 while the selling rate was Rs. 297.01, the CBSL noted.
