The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for severe lightning across all provinces of Sri Lanka, effective until 1.00 a.m. tomorrow(15).

The advisory, issued at 11.00 a.m. today (14), warns that thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely in most parts of the island.

Temporary, localised strong winds may also occur during thundershowers. The public has been urged to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by lightning.
