Sri Lanka has emphasised the importance of sustained peace in the Indian Ocean for regional security, development, and economic resilience.
Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath delivered the opening statement at the 24th Meeting of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Council of Ministers, calling for inclusive cooperation among member states.
As the current Chair of IORA, Sri Lanka hosted the high-level virtual meetings from 19 to 21 May, reaffirming its leadership role in fostering long-term sustainability and prosperity across the Indian Ocean region.
