Two sisters were killed after being struck by a speeding luxury car while crossing at a pedestrian crossing in Koralaima, Polgasowita yesterday (16).

According to reports, the victims were returning from a funeral home with two children—daughters of one of the women, when the car hit them along the Horana–Colombo road.

The sisters died from their injuries, while the children, aged 11 and 17, remain in serious condition at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital.

The 28-year-old driver, who had his 3-year-old daughter in the car at the time, fled the scene but later surrendered and was found to be under the influence of alcohol.
