A large-scale project to address the human-elephant conflict in Hambantota District is scheduled to begin today(02).

The operation aims to protect both residents and elephants by driving wild herds that have breached electric fences back into protected areas.

Reports indicate that around 2,000 personnel will be involved, including officers from the Department of Wildlife Conservation, Sri Lanka Air Force, Police, and the Civil Defense Force.
