The Leader of the Opposition, Sajith Premadasa has called for an independent and transparent investigation into the deadly violence at Negombo Prison.

Premadasa stated that the government should take responsibility for the incident and explain the circumstances surrounding the unrest, citing concerns over prison administration and law and order.
