Over 140 houses damaged by adverse weather

The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) stated that a total of 141 houses have been partially damaged across Sri Lanka due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions.


According to the DMC, the incidents were reported between May 10 and today (16).


The Centre also stated that one house in the Ratnapura District was completely destroyed due to the disaster situation.


Among the partially damaged houses, the highest number was reported from the Kalutara District with 78 houses affected.


Other affected districts include Batticaloa District with 25 houses, Ratnapura with 12, Galle District with 6, Colombo District with 5, and smaller numbers reported from Monaragala District, Jaffna District, Gampaha District, Hambantota District and Anuradhapura District.


The DMC further noted that 4,099 individuals from 1,263 families across 48 Divisional Secretariat divisions have been affected by the ongoing disaster situation.
