1,184 suspects arrested during ’Yukthiya’ operation

A total of 1,184 suspects were arrested within the 24 hours ending at 12.30 a.m. today (5) during the island-wide operation 'Yukthiya', the Public Security Ministry stated.


The Ministry also stated that during this period, police recovered 337.7 gms of heroin, 6.6 kgs of cannabis, 242 gms of Ice drugs, 7,772 cannabis plants, 3.6 kgs of Mawa, 1,221 narcotic pills and 1.2 kgs of Kush.


Among the 1,184 suspects arrested during the operation, 59 are being investigated under detention orders, while 93 of them are on the Island Re-convicted Criminal (IRC) list of the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB).


Accordingly, 49 persons have been referred for rehabilitation and 23 suspects have been investigated for illegal assets.
