As part of the "Clean Sri Lanka" Programme, the Government has launched the "Model Urban Green Zones" project to foster a cultural, ethical, social, and environmental revival.

The first phase will see green zones established in Peliyagoda and Orugodawatta, aligning with the Green City concept.

The initiative follows a Public-Private-People Partnership (4P) model, bringing together government bodies, private companies, and the public.

Key participants include the Urban Development Authority, Colombo Municipal Council, Sri Lanka Railways, and private sector supporter Capital Maharaja Organization.

With work set to begin by March-end, the project aims to combat urban pollution, enhance greenery, and promote healthier lifestyles in the face of growing urban populations.
