Farmers affected by recent adverse weather are urged to report crop damage to the Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board by 10 December.
Officials from the Board will assess the damage, which is estimated to affect 25% of flooded cultivated lands.
According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Namal Karunaratne, farmers with completely damaged lands will receive Rs. 100,000 per hectare as compensation.
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) also pledged support to restore damaged cultivations during discussions with Minister of Agriculture K. D. Lalkantha.
