- ‘Ruhuna perata – rata Anurata’ the inaugural campaign rally of the NPP held in Tangalle
Speaking at the campaign rally, National People’s Power (NPP) Presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that the mammoth gathering of people to the rally, despite the heavy downpour, is a testament of their victory on 21 September at the Presidential Election 2024.
Addressing the gathering NPP Presidential candidate Dissanayake said:
“The day this country would change and bring victory to the NPP is 21 September. Today, the leaders of the country have given its people a collapsed nation facing disgrace. It is the time for you to decide whether to walk on the same path or free yourself from these hardships and enter a new path.
Aftermath the victory, we beg you to maintain democracy and peace as our aim is not to personally attack others.
Leaders must respect people’s democratic opinion. However, we are bound to protect justice and fairness for the sake of the citizens. That is assured. We will enforce law against criminals with proper investigations. The country that we build will have one law enacted to all – from president to countrymen. Not a country where fraudsters, corrupted people, criminals can escape the country evading the law.
We are the only power that will create a country without corruption, bribery and crime as aspired by people.
We want to build a country that will move parallel to the world. To develop this country, the income generated from all sectors must increase. Their income generation venues need to be strengthened. We will ensure this happens. We not only have the plans, we also have the suitable people with expertise to implement it.
We will take the responsibility to find global market portions for our exporters. Our industries and agriculture need to be modernised. We assure you, that the NPP government will provide the necessary infrastructure,
We will expose our children to global knowledge. We have the strategy to provide all citizens with quality, safe medicines. We will neve allow the mafia or monopoly in the pharmaceutical industry.
We will lift the taxes imposed on textbooks and other school equipment as soon as the NPP government is established. How can a child pay taxes for educating him/her self? Education is an investment for a country.
We will remove the tax imposed on medical diagnostic tests charged on patients, from the first budget itself.
Let us fight for 3-4 years to build a better nation. For the first time we will build a country where people live happily, while the country prospers.”
Janath Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Secretary General Tilvin Silva, Veteran Actor Senior lecturer Prasannajith Abeysuriya also spoke at the rally in Tangalle.
