The Australian Government has donated 12 surveillance drones to the Sri Lanka Coast Guard to strengthen maritime safety and security cooperation.

The drones were officially handed over by Rear Admiral Brett Sonter to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Director General Rear Admiral Rohan Joseph at the Coast Guard Headquarters in Mirissa on 08 May.

Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Matthew Duckworth also attended the event.

Officials from both countries also held discussions on future cooperation between the Sri Lanka Coast Guard and the Australian Border Force.
