Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath held discussions with Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

The Foreign Ministry said this is the first visit by an SCO Secretary-General to Sri Lanka.

Talks focused on strengthening cooperation in tourism, transport, logistics and agriculture.

Sri Lanka also expressed interest in joining SCO initiatives and promoting investment and tourism links.

The visiting delegation also met several Sri Lankan ministers during the visit.
