The Ministry of Education (MOE) has revealed that there are currently over 4,000 vacant principal positions in schools nationwide. 

Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education, Madhura Senevirathna, assured the public that immediate steps will be taken to recruit suitable candidates to fill these vacancies without delay.

He explained that the competitive examination for principal recruitment has been postponed due to several technical issues. 

The Department of Examinations is actively working to resolve these problems and will conduct the examination as soon as possible to facilitate timely appointments.
