The report of the Commission of Inquiry into alleged illegal detention centres and torture chambers at the Batalanda Housing Scheme has been forwarded to the Attorney General (AG).

The President's Media Division (PMD) stated that the Presidential Secretariat made the decision, aiming to take further legal action based on the findings of the long-awaited report.

Originally presented in Parliament on 14 March by Leader of the House Minister Bimal Ratnayake, this marks the first public tabling of the report in 25 years.

The move signals renewed Government interest in addressing the controversial events linked to Batalanda.
