The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has sealed a warehouse in Wattala after seizing a stock of imported dried chillies suspected of being unfit for human consumption.
The Gampaha District Investigation (Raid) Unit acted on a complaint, finding 30 bags, each weighing 25 kilograms, in the Elakanda area facility.
Officials noted that essential labelling, including the date of manufacture and expiry date, was missing.
The CAA revealed the consignment had already begun entering the market.
The warehouse owner was taken into custody by the CAA and subsequently released on a bond.
