A special discussion was held on 30 September at the Presidential Secretariat to facilitate the establishment of a Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) Innovation Hub in Sri Lanka.

The meeting, coordinated with the National Initiative for Research and Development Commercialization (NIRDC), included officials from RMIT and the Presidential Secretariat.

The proposed Hub aims to strengthen existing Joint PhD programmes and align R&D solutions with national priorities. 

It is expected to enhance international collaboration, support innovation commercialization, and contribute to Sri Lanka’s economic and technological advancement through new investments and research projects
