The Federation of University Teachers’ Associations (FUTA) is launching a one-day islandwide strike today (30), calling for solutions to issues affecting the state university system.

FUTA General Secretary Senior Lecturer Charudaththe Illangasinghe stated that the strike would cover all state universities.

The association is protesting staff shortages, excessive workloads and inadequate university facilities. A protest march is also scheduled to take place today.
