The Cabinet has approved a proposal to reduce the annual group insurance coverage for Members of Parliament from Rs. 1 million to Rs. 250,000. 

The move, proposed by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in the 2025 budget, aims to cut public spending. 

The revised scheme was formally presented by the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs.
