The Peoples’ Collective for Economic Justice organisation yesterday (6) lodged a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) against Public Security Minister Tiran Alles.
The Collective claims that while the Auditor General has, in the 2021 audit report on the Bank of Ceylon mentioned that a private company owned by Alles has not paid Rs. 3 billion in terms of loan repayment, Alles and a Company named Banham Ventures Limited is linked in the Pandora Papers exposed by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists to the tax haven, the British Virgin Islands.
The complaint requests the CIABOC to check the assets and liabilities declarations by Alles and the Inland Revenue Department records related to Alles, and to utilise the legal provisions on anti-corruption with regard to the same.
