The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for strong winds and rough seas affecting the sea areas from Kankasanthurai to Puttalam via Mannar and Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

The Department noted that winds of 55–65 km/h and waves of up to 2.5 metres are expected in affected sea areas, urging naval and fishing communities to remain vigilant.
