Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today (25) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The arrest took place following the Attorney General's (AG) notification on 23 January, citing sufficient evidence to name him as a respondent in a Rs. 34 million land case involving Daisy Forrest, his grandmother.

Accordingly, Rajapaksa was arrested near the Beliatta Southern Expressway entrance and will be produced in court after providing a statement.
