The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) has arrested the skipper and seized the boat allegedly used to transport Ishara Sewwandi— a key suspect in the murder of Ganemulla Sanjeewa to India.

The vessel, found at Aralithuduwa Beach in Jaffna, is a small boat powered by a 400-horsepower engine and reportedly owned by A. Anandan, who is accused of facilitating the escape. 

Following extensive questioning by the CCD’s Organized Crime Investigation Unit, both the skipper and the boat were taken into custody.

Police investigations are ongoing.
