The auspicious oil-anointing ritual of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year commenced at 6:55 a.m. today (15), with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake attending the state ceremony in Kandy.

The ritual is being held at the Sri Maha Natha Devalaya within the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic premises, under the guidance of the Malwathu and Asgiri chapters.

In keeping with tradition, people were advised to wear green attire, face east, and follow customary practices using neem leaves and oil.
