An interim report proposing a formal salary structure for the public service is scheduled to be submitted today(13) to the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government.
The report, prepared by a sub-committee chaired by Member of Parliament Chandana Sooriyaarachchi, contains proposals aimed at developing a comprehensive and scientific pay scheme.
The initiative seeks to address existing salary disparities and enhance professionalism across the sector by reviewing service constitutions, recruitment procedures, promotions, and allowances.
The sub-committee gathered ideas and proposals from various parties before finalising the interim document.
