Former State Intelligence Service Director Suresh Sallay, currently in custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has reiterated he will continue his ongoing hunger strike.
Reports say he is receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital and has refused to return to CID detention, describing the cell as “hell”.
He has also raised allegations against the CID Director, while his lawyer urged him to end the protest during a hospital visit.
The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) is reviewing related complaints, while CID has said video footage from a March 8 inspection is not available due to storage limits.
