The Government has approved the phased removal of the CESS levy on goods and materials imported under 2,634 identified Harmonized System (HS) codes over a four-year period from 2026 to 2029.

Cabinet approval was granted this week following a proposal submitted by the President in his capacity as Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.

The decision covers 2,634 HS codes and will see the gradual elimination of the CESS levy across the specified categories during the 2026-2029 period.

The CESS levy is currently imposed on selected imported goods and materials. With the latest approval, the government will begin removing the levy in stages over the next four years in line with the approved proposal.
