The October elderly allowances under the Aswesuma Welfare Benefit Payment Scheme are scheduled to be credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts from today (29).

A total of Rs. 3.47 billion has been allocated to provide allowances to 695,882 senior citizens aged 70 and above under the scheme’s two phases.

The first phase covers 616,362 beneficiaries, with Rs. 3.08 billion allocated, while Rs. 397 million has been set aside for 79,520 beneficiaries under the second phase.

The Welfare Benefits Board stated that eligible beneficiaries can access the payments through their Aswesuma bank accounts from today.
