Two Okkampitiya residents died after their car toppled into the Viyana canal along the Mahiyanganaya–Badulla road near the 17th milepost this morning (15). 

Despite rescue efforts, both victims were pronounced dead upon admission to hospital. 

Police investigations are ongoing.
